Immunisations
You may need vaccines to help prevent getting ill, although only a small proportion of travel-related illnesses can be prevented by vaccines. These, along with the appropriate written advice, can help to keep you well while you are away. We can advise on specific problems that may affect travellers with certain conditions e.g. asthma & diabetes. Backpackers & gap year students also need specialist advice. Some vaccines e.g. Hepatitis B & rabies need several doses over a period of weeks, so extra time needs to be allowed for these.
Most of the common vaccines are in stock at all times & are usually free. More specialised ones need to be specially ordered for each patient & there is a charge for these.
To enter some countries you will need certificates to prove that you have had certain vaccinations.
Malaria
Malaria may also be present in your chosen destination. We can advise on the appropriate medication and provide it for you on a private prescription.
Pre-Travel Assessment
So that we can tailor our advice to your specific needs & type of holiday, we ask everyone to fill out a pre-holiday assessment form, and bring it with them, already completed, to the travel appointment. This can be obtained in advance from reception, or click here to download.
