Information for Patients
GP Registrars are doctors who have have been selected to train as general practitioners. They will all have been qualified for at least 2 years and will have gained experience in a variety of posts, mainly in hospital. Some will have been qualified considerably longer and may have wider experience. Their training for general practice will take at least 3 years, in a range of practices and specialities, and they usually spend 6 months with us.
GP Registrars work under the supervision of the GP Trainers. Initially the supervision may be quite close but, as they gain in experience and confidence, we expect them to take increasing responsibility for all aspects of your care. They are carefully assessed; this assessment includes the video-taping of some consultations for later discussion but this will never be done without your express permission.
