We have been an enthusiastic training practice since 1988 and participate in medical education on a number of levels and the whole practice is actively involved. We are approved for training by the East of England Deanery, which visits the practice and the trainers routinely to assess our suitability for training.
We also have a close relationship with the King’s Lynn Vocational Training Scheme where Dr Richard Musson became one of the Programme Directors in 2006.
GP Registrars are doctors who have have been selected to train as general practitioners. They will all have been qualified for at least 2 years and will have gained experience in a variety of posts, mainly in hospital. Some will have been qualified considerably longer and may have wider experience. Their training for general practice will take at least 3 years, in a range of practices and specialities, and they usually spend 6 months with us. They work under the supervision of the GP Trainers. Initially the supervision may be quite close but, as they gain in experience and confidence, we expect them to take increasing responsibility for all aspects of your care. They are carefully assessed; this assessment includes the video-taping of some consultations for later discussion but this will never be done without your express permission.
